Parental leave

Whether you are in the institutional or commercial sector, civil, industrial or road engineering, the regulations for the collective agreement on the parental leave are the same (with some exceptions).

  • An employee may be entitled to a leave for a period of 5 days, on the occasion of the birth of his child or the adoption of a child. The first 2 days of absence shall be remunerated if the employee is credited with 60 days of uninterrupted service.
  • A pregnant employee who so requests shall be entitled to a maternity leave without pay for a maximum period of 18 weeks.
  • The father and the mother of a newborn and a person who adopts a child who have not reached the age at which a child is required to attend school are entitled to a parental leave without pay for a period of 52 weeks.
  • By regulations, the government shall determine the benefits that an employee may benefit during maternity leave or parental leave with respect to his seniority, the duration of annual leave, relating to such leave allowance and its participation in the benefits recognized in his place of work.
